A few further details culled from the Danish press (esp. pieces in Midtjyllands Avis and Berlingske Tidende on Friday, neither of which seems to be publicly available):

C14-analysis dates (at least some of the) bodies (age range at death approx. 16-45) to about 60-70 AD (50-70 in some reports), i.e. about 150 years earlier than the earliest of the previous weapons finds. So far it hasn't been possible to establish where the army (if, indeed, these are the remains of a single, large army - it is possible that these are the remains of several armies sacrificed over the centuries) came from, Sweden and Norway are mentioned as (rather obvious) possibilities, but it seems to be no more than that. The site of the battle is uncertain as well, could be somewhere in Illerup Ådal itself, or could be e.g. Saksild Beach on Jutlands east coast.

A local tv news segment (.wmv link, or go here and click the link Massegrav ved Mossø, halfway down the page) is probably of little help to those who don't speak the language, but contains some nice, if fairly standard footage of archaeologists in action.
