A recently-revealed mosaic from Adramytteion includes, among its fifteen panels, depictions of a cat labelled ‘Emerald’ (ΖΜΑΡΑΓΔΙΝ) and a dog named ‘Ocean’ (ΩΚΕΑΝΟΣ) which sre naturally presumed to be pets of whoever commissioned the mosaic. The work is dated to the late second/early third cnturies CE.
