Reed College invites applications for a one-year visiting appointment in
Classics and Humanities beginning August 2013. We are seeking a
classicist with a strong background in Greek and Latin literature. The
successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching
excellence at the undergraduate level. The appointee will teach Greek
and Latin language and literature courses, advise senior theses, and may
teach in Reed’s first-year Humanities course, which focuses primarily on
Greco-Roman civilization. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand or

The Department of Classics at Brown University has been authorized to
announce a search for a senior Hellenist (Associate or Full Professor)
with a specialization in ancient Greek History. The successful
candidate will teach Greek history as well as Classical Greek language
and literature. Prerequisites for consideration include distinction in
scholarship and teaching in any aspect of Greek history.

The Classics and Archaeology at the University of Melbourne is a leading program for the study of the ancient world. The only program of its kind in Australia, it is home to cutting edge research and field study undertaken by its staff, researchers and fellows. The discipline of Classics, part of the Classics and Archaeology program, in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies teaches a suite of undergraduate subjects, has a strong research higher degree culture, and an internationally recognised research profile. The discipline has strengths in ancient Greek and Latin language and literature, and Near Eastern, Aegean and Classical archaeology. The School now seeks to appoint a Lecturer (US equivalent of Assistant Professor) in the field of Classics, with a specialisation in ancient Greek language and literature.

To be successful in this role you will have an established research specialisation as above, and demonstrate potential to achieve a high level of research performance through the steady production of refereed publications and success in obtaining research grants, as well as the demonstrated potential to attain academic promotion. You will have a proven capability to make a significant contribution to research and engagement in Classics and Ancient World Studies, and will aspire to cultivate research links and networks with other groups on campus, as well as nationally and internationally.

The Department of the Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization of Latin prose literature. Successful candidates must conduct independent research, perform academic duties associated with our BA, MA, and PhD programs, and teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants are expected to present evidence of excellence in research and teaching.

Applicants must have a PhD in Classics (or in an immediately relevant field) at time of appointment. The target starting date is August 16, 2013. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
