Hey everyone! New episode is out and we are breaking away from our written sources to study the frontier that is built to separate the northern boundaries of the Roman Empire and the barbarous Germans.  Is this a solid wall of defenses to keep the ever dangerous horde back or a second rate line?  What, if any, is the interaction between the two neighbors now that things have settled?  And why are we covering several centuries worth of history in this one episode?! Listen to find out!

In this episode, we discuss the differences that arose after the signing of the Peace of Nikias, the breaches of the treaty, and the hostilities that followed; the rise of Alcibiades to prominence at Athens; the quadruple alliance between Athens, Argos, Mantinea, and Elis; and the Battle of Mantinea

On this episode is an interview with author and educator Vicky Alvear Shecter. She wrote the book Cleopatra’s Moon, a tale of Selene, daughter of Cleopatra and Marc Antony. Included is a reading by Nancy who provides us the voice of Selene who witnessed the Donations of Alexandria, where Antony distributed Roman lands to his children and Queen Cleopatra. As you can guess this did not go over well in Rome, and led to the battle of Actium. .
