It came as a shock to me that it is considered to discontinue Prof. Ganz’s Chair in Latin palaeography, an essential prerequisite for anyone editing or studying Classical or Mediaeval texts or hsitory, and I have no doubt that all Classical and Mediaeval scholars will agree with me.
I find this appalling. To discontinue this is basically saying that history has no place in the University setting anymore. I am a history student and one who has always admired Prof. Gan’s. Palaeography is extremely important to not only me but an entire community of students and people. This is an outrage.
