They are aware of Pleiades and the AWMC, correct? Why all the redundancy?
… or Bill Thayer’s efforts: http://rambambashi.wordpress.com/2011/11/01/2300-ancient-sites-on-google-earth/ … I don’t quite get this one, to be honest.
Pleiades is very different from what AHE is doing, and so is the AWMC. These two services let you find individual places. AHE’s map will let the user go through the entire timeline and see what the world was like at this time.
Just spotted this today: the wonderful collection of GoogleMap views is not mine, but Jona Lendering’s. It’s been said that Pontius Pilate’s name appears in the Apostles’ Creed like a Dog at a dinner party; and so does mine in what really is Jona’s blog — “What’s New at [LacusCurtius and] Livius” —, where I’m just a favoured guest.
thanks for the clarificatiom!
